 Santa Maria del Mar

Santa Maria del Mar is a Catholic Church built between 1329 and1383 in Catalan Gothic style. It is huge so it looks really magnificent. Its construction started during the reign of King Alfonso IV of Aragon. The architects in charge were Berenguer Montagut and Ramon Despuig.

From the outside, Santa Maria gives an impression of massive severity that belies the interior. In contrast with the exterior, the interior gives an impression of light and spaciousness.

Santa Maria del Mar is the place for Christians to pray and a fabulous place for sightseers to enjoy medieval architecture. 

I was greatly impressed by the magnificence of the church. It is exceptional and attracting.

Sagrada Familia

Church in Barcelona

One more work by famous archtect Antoni Gaudi; it is still not finished

The style of la Sagrada Familia is variously likened to Spanish Late Gothic, Catalan Modernism and to Art Nouveau or Catalan Noucentisme. Decoration include words from the liturgy. When designing the temple, Gaudí invented an extraordinary method for determining the correct angle for each of the leaning columns. He made a small hanging model of the church, using string to represent the columns. Then he turned the model upside down and... gravity did the math.

The ongoing construction of Sagrada Familia is paid for by tourism.

It's the building, which every tourist must see in Barcelona. It's as magnificent as it seems to be, while you're looking at the picture... and even more.

Arc de Triomf

Triumphal arch

The arch was built for the 1888 Universal Exposition;  designed by Catalan architect modernist Josep Vilaseca

Arc de Triomf is built with colourfull brickwall in style, which has origins in Moorish architecture. The arch is adorned with a large number of statues and reliefs.

When you look into arc de Triomf, you can see a small stunning piece of Barcelona inside. It's the view, which you must remember, if you visit the city, because it seems like all the nicest parts of skyline are included.

Magic Fountain of Montjuic

Constructed for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition; designed by Carles Buigas

It‘s an unconventional fountain, which “dances“, while the music is playing. Of course it has 4 760 lights (which is also included into a performance) in total. 

There were lots of people watching the fountain's show. It means the fountain is popular among tourists as well as locals. Even though the fountain was red all the time, I was fastinated by the view. And the music, too. I‘m interested in music, so it was the most unforgettable attraction for me in Spain.

Olympic Stadium

OLYMPIC STADIUM

This is the Olympic Stadium, the magnificent setting for the main athletics events and the Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies. The original front ,dating to 1929, was maintained and rehabilited. In this stadium there is also a museum, the Olyppic Gallery, that lets you relive the 1922 Olympic Games in Barcelona and is also an exhibition and researce centre of this sports event from Athens to the present day.
I do not like football very much, but the stadium made a big impression on me.

Park GÜELL Porticoed Pathway

Park Güell porticoed pathway. The finishings on the columns are composed of the original flower pots.
The columns, Doric in form, support tiny spherical cupolas on wich the upper square stands, offering one of the beautiful views of the city.
The park, declared Patrimonu of Mankind by UNESCO in 1984, is one of the most exceptional illustrations of Gaudi.
This park is the most beautiful place  I have ever visited.
