Helsinki

Helsinki was founded in 1550 on the orders of King Gustav Vasa of Sweden by the name of Helsingfors on the site of Forsby , at the mouth of the river Vanda . The village was already flanked by a harbor, mentioned for the first time under the name of Helsinge in 1351 in a document of King Magnus II of Sweden , which guaranteed the rights to fish for salmon on the river Vantaa to the Estonian monastery of Padise .Helsinki is a very modern city overlooking the Baltic Sea ( where about one-tenth of the population of the country) on a main peninsula , a number of other smaller islands and peninsulas define the limits of the city. The climate is humid and boreal , despite the northern latitude , is mitigated by the sea though less "warmed " by the warm Gulf Stream than in Norway and Sweden , less climatically nations of continental Finland . In January and February the average temperature is around -5 ° C, while the average from June to August are around 16 ° C. It is a unique city , a place that has a beautiful landscape and a history
