Ekorosk, a waste management company

Ab Ekorosk Oy is a waste management company founded in 2.11.1990 as a joint-stock company owned by the cities Jakobstad, Kokkola and Nykarleby and the municipalities Alahärmä, Evijärvi, Kaustinen, Kortesjärvi, Kronoby, Larsmo, Oravais, Pedersöre and Veteli. There are about 115.600 inhabitants in the Ekorosk region and all household waste is handled by the company. The company also handles most of the industrial waste produced in the region
Ecopoints
Ecopoints are meant for household waste
such as glass, small metal objects, paper
and batteries. Some Ecopoints accept
cardboard. Ecopoints are located near
markets and shopping centres and in small
house areas.
Recycling stations
Recycling stations are supervised receiving
stations that accept bulky household waste,
such as sorted construction waste, sized
textiles, plastic, scrap metal and hazardous
waste.
Hazardous waste
Hazardous waste is received and sorted
at Ekorosk´s central storage and later
transported elsewhere for proper
treatment. The regional waste storage also
serves small and medium-sized businesses.

I was impressed by the modernity and efficiency of this plant that allows 94%of waste recycling.
